New Blog Content and New Book

The new book is so good! A friend from work lent it to me on Friday and I could not put it down this weekend. Thanks also to the boredom of the rain and being couped up for 48 hours. We are not even in to June and I'm well over halfway through our selection. I'm thinking I love it waaaaay more than I liked Kite Runner. Thoughts?

Book Nectar

Hey Ladies,

We are on to meet Wednesday May 28, at 7:00 at Nectar Desserts in Inglewood. Really cute website, click here to check it out. Mmmmm desserts! Sounds like an abundance of great wines as well. 1216 9 Avenue SE.

I finished the book last night and really thought it was a good one. Kept me reading through to the end, May Dodd was a character I enjoyed as well as all her friends. I would love to discuss the ending but don't want to give anything away...I'll have to wait a week!

We are on to One Thousand Splendid Suns in June. This is such a popular book I think about 3 people I know own it so I am going to try to borrow. More Afganistan...anyone else noticed all the coverage lately on this country's struggles? There was Kite Runner, Charlie Wilson's War, Kite Runner movie, Kabul Beauty School. I guess popular movies and books hardly make me an expert, but I'm wondering will I get more out of this book for having a general understanding of the culture and history of Afganistan, or will I feel it's the same story told through a different point of view? Either way I'm interested in the answer.

Cheyenne Names

Hi Again!

I made it to Part 3 last night - called something like "My Life as an Indian Squaw". LOL. Thanks for putting up with this book selection! I know you all must have been thinking what Alana was thinking - some Wild West Cowboys and Indians novel. Snore. I have faith in my SIL Mary, I think it's going to get pretty interesting. I was intrigued enough to do a Google Search on the Cheyenne sign language, but didn't come up with much. What I did find was a bit of history on Little Wolf. Click here for more. Handsome devil.

What really got me laughing last night was coming up with my own Cheyenne name.

BD suggested "Whiney Baby", which is also my Delta Force Army Ranger nickname.

Which made me come up with "Sleeps with Mean Man". So funny. It was late. I was tired.

Those First Few Chapters

Hello all!

I spent a heavenly 3 hours on the deck yesterday in the sunshine reading our new book. Hello Summer, I've missed you. Except I have a forehead burn to show for it. Always the amature.

Thanks for the comments on the book, Amber! I am so glad you love it! I really like it so far too. I'lll look ahead to see how many pages until the next break and find they just fly by. Pretty easy to read and I like the colorful characters.

The movie in my head casts Julia Ormond as May Dodd.

And Young Pitt as Captain Bourke. (He was so much better pre-Angelina. Tear.)
Thoughts?

Also, I'm coming to you live and direct from a new office! I can actually look out the window and see my old office, so I haven't gone far.
